Summer Claypoole illuminated our community with her spirit and passion. An advocate for youth and social justice, she exuded a love for art, cats, and her city of Baltimore. Summer was a radical, fun-loving human who was committed to change for the greater good of society. A collective thinker, a dedicated daughter and tremendous friend and ally. Summer Claypoole Apprenticeship Program
Our apprenticeship program is for individuals from all walks of life to unlock their artistic potential, hone their skills, and actively engage with the community through a variety of art projects. We recognize systemic inequity in access to opportunities in the arts and believe in the value of apprenticeships. This is a paid apprenticeship program .
Summer Claypoole Apprenticeship program offers:
Hands-on Experience: Apprentices gain practical, real-world experience by working on diverse art projects within the community, honing their skills and expanding their artistic repertoire.
Mentorship and Guidance: Each apprentice receives personalized mentorship from experienced artists and community leaders, providing invaluable guidance and support throughout their journey.
Networking Opportunities: Apprentices have the chance to connect with fellow artists, community members, and industry professionals, building lasting relationships and expanding their professional network.
Access to Resources: From art supplies to studio space, apprentices have access to the resources they need to bring their creative visions to life.
Community Impact: By actively engaging with the community through their art projects, apprentices have the opportunity to make a tangible difference and contribute to building a more vibrant and connected community.
The Summer Claypoole Apprenticeship Program welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and levels of experience who are passionate about art, community engagement, and social justice. Whether you're a budding artist looking to explore your creative potential or someone with a strong commitment to making a positive impact in your community through art, we encourage you to apply.
As a baseline our apprentice program will prioritize:
- Women
- People of color
- People without any formal art training including an art/college degree
-People over 30 years old
- Single parents
Requirements: We look for applicants who demonstrate:
Passion for Art: A genuine love for art and a desire to explore and expand your creative abilities.
Commitment to Community: An eagerness to engage with and contribute to the local community through art projects and initiatives.
Openness to Learning: Willingness to learn, grow, and collaborate with mentors and fellow apprentices.
Dedication: A strong work ethic and dedication to actively participate in the program and make the most of the opportunities provided.
Respect and Inclusivity: Respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of the community.
Life force development skills: life experiences that have led to the development of strong social and emotional skills including communication and time management.
These requirements are designed to ensure that apprentices are able to fully engage with the program and contribute positively to their own artistic growth and the community at large.
Compensation: $17-$20 per hour: depending on experience
Part time stipend/ 20 hours
Full time stipend/40 hours
Apprenticeship opportunities will be based on a 3 month, 6 month or 12 month appointment.
